TWiki - The Wiki Platform
TWiki is an open-source enterprise wiki and collaboration platform:
- Created: Around 1998 by Peter Thoeny
- Written in: Perl
- Key Features: Structured wikis with topics organized in "webs" (namespaces), fine-grained access controls, plugin architecture, and form-based data handling
- Common Uses: Documentation, project management, knowledge bases, intranets
- Notable Event: In 2008, there was a community fork that created Foswiki, which split the development community
TWiki uses a different markup syntax than MediaWiki and has a more structured approach to organizing content. It's traditionally been popular in corporate and enterprise environments.
