Overview
LoadRunner is HP's interactive scripting tool which is used to generate and run Stress and Volume Tests (SnV) or Load Tests.
Originally implemented by Mercury Interactive, Their suite of products (LoadRunner/Test Director/QTP/ALM) was acquired some years ago by Hewlett Packard so you can go here for product information.
