Tutorial 2 - Video

Hello, Impact enthusiasts and users!

For all of you who cannot wait, here are the first three videos I made for the workflow from making models to postprocessing. The whole series is made for both beginners and professionals. Beginners will find all steps necessary from the concept/idea of the model to the final postprocessing of the results of the calculations. Professionals might find useful tips for modeling in ordinary 3D applications that have more useful surface modeling capabilities than many commercial preprocessors.
I'm very flexible concerning the contents of these "tutorials", so tell me what you want or need and I'll do my best to help you.

The model I'm constructing and using in this video series is a thin rectangular rod with a bore. This model can be used for several purposes that I'll demonstrate you in the next days/weeks. I'll update my contribtions regularly so check back often.

The first video shows how I make models with Cinema4D, a 3D modeling and animation package, much the same as 3DS Max, Maya, Blender3D etc.

The second video shows how I import the dxf model into GiD, a good pre-/postprocessor package. The first step is the refinement of the coarse grid I made in C4D and assign Shell_BT4 elements to it. Then you can see the rather straightforward addition of the constraints, the material etc.
Then the model is ready for export as an Impact "in" file.

The third video shows the further manipulation and cleanup of the impact file in the impact processor. After everything's ok the processor can do it's work.
When the calculations are done the postprocessing is the next step.

I'll add another video that shows how to use the more comfortable GiD postprocessing capabilities.

As soon as I'm well enough used to Blender3D I'll add a video for it, too.
Other videos, showing Modeling of 3D-Geometries and maybe volume models will follow. I'll also add more information on the videos themselves because they might be a bit confusing for the users not used to the workflow. I'll add subtitles as explanations and maybe even audio. But beware, you'll have to live with my German accent ;)
Be patient please, I'll hurry!

Video sizes are all about 1090x830 at 10fps.
Codec used is the XviD codec. It should be freely available for all users, no matter what OS they have. Older Mpeg codecs are too inefficient for good quality at low filesize requirements. If you want x264-compressed versions I can upload them too.
All videos are not processed, so there might be phases where nothing special happens. I'll change it, I promise.

Some of you might have seen that the results seem a bit strange. I found out I missed to correct the surface normals during the construction phase in C4D. I'll post the corrected versions in the following days.

Yours,
